Classification of proteins

Classification based on solubility, coagulation, conjugation, denaturation and hydrolysis. Simple proteins, conjugated proteins and derived proteins.

Simple proteins

In their natural state are presented only with amino alpha bonding. In this group are albumin, globulin, glutelin, etc.

Conjugated proteins

Are bonded to other non-protein substances (prosthetic group) and its classification depends on the characteristics of this group.
E.g.: Phosphoproteins, Nucleoproteins, glycoproteins, lipoproteins, etc.

Derived proteins

They are obtained by different methods including the action of heat, acids, alkalis, water, enzymes, alcohol, radiant energy and mechanical action.
