Dry extract (Powder)

Definition

The dry extract is a solid preparation obtained by evaporating the solvent used in their production. The dry extract usually has a loss on drying or water content of not more than 5% m / m.

Tests

Water Determination: Where applicable complies with the limits prescribed in the monograph.

 

Loss on drying: Where appropriate, the dry extract complies with the limits prescribed in the monograph.

Solvents

Where applicable, the monograph prescribes a limit test for the solvent used in the extraction.

Storage

In sealed containers, protected from light.
